Behind the Light: How This Review Was Shaped by You

Every portable light tells its own story, and so does this review.

As I started shaping May the Fos Be With You, I knew from the beginning this wouldn’t be just a static product overview. It had to be something deeper: An EXPERIENCE, a point of view, and a useful tool for those curious about the world of portable luminaires.

What surprised me the most? The story wasn’t mine alone. It became ours.

Through Instagram Stories, I began asking questions, simple at first: 

✨ “Do you use portable lights at home?” 

✨ “Do you dim the light often, or always use full brightness?” 

✨ “Warm light or cool light, what’s your go-to and so on…”

What followed was a wave of responses. Polls, quizzes, and open questions turned into threads of insight, preference, and curiosity. The collective voice helped me see what mattered most, not just to me as a lighting designer, but to you as everyday users.

Your input helped me refine the focus points of this review:

• The importance of dimming and how intuitive the control feels

• The emotional power of color temperature, from golden warmth to crisp white

• The practicality of charging methods and battery life

• And yes, even how a lamp’s material and touch can change how we interact with it

  
  

It was from these reactions that the FACTS section of this review was born. Real questions. Real needs. Real scenarios. Of course, there are lots of other elements that will come up in the process, and we really want to keep this a very dynamic platform that it will be adapted based on uses, questions, update,s and needs. 

So when you scroll through this project, know it’s layered with shared reflections. From how the light falls on a dinner table, to the subtle glow that makes a corner feel like home, every choice, every feature was shaped with intention.

This isn’t just about lighting up a space. It’s about designing experiences. Ones that feel real, responsive, and human.
